2024 Award of the CAS

Department of Adaptive Systems

We are proud to announce that Miroslav Kárný has been awarded the prestigious Award of the Czech Academy of Sciences for his outstanding contributions to scientific knowledge. His remarkable work on the “General Prescriptive Theory of Dynamic Decision Making Under Uncertainty and Incomplete Knowledge” has earned this honor, highlighting achievements that enhance the reputation of Czech science.

This award is bestowed for exceptional scientific results that demonstrate high-quality research, strategically aligned with societal needs and priorities.

The original General Prescriptive Theory of Dynamic Decision Making, developed by M. Kárný, effectively bridges decision-making and learning. It generalizes the standard Bayesian theory of expected utility, offering a comprehensive decision framework. The exceptional significance of this theory lies in its universality and broad applicability, validated across various levels of abstraction.

We celebrate Miroslav Kárný’s achievements and their impact on the scientific community and society at large!
